In the past year, three motivational podcasts have been picked up by listeners, according to a new study from Nielsen SoundScan.
The data shows that MotivateYourBrain has been on the rise for the past two years and has had more than 2.5 million downloads from listeners.
Mighty Mouse, a podcast that focuses on fitness, has received a ton of attention from listeners, but its only been watched about 700,000 times.
Podcasts that are not based on a fitness model, like The Joyride, The Big Fat Life and Mile High are more popular than Motivation, and have over 1.3 million listeners.
In the future, Motivating your brain, the third-best motivational podcast, is expected to be a hit.
But why do podcasts seem to attract listeners?
In a recent blog post for The Wall Street Journal, Samantha Stovall, the founder of The Mindful Workout, explains why podcasts appeal to people.
“We’re not asking people to lose weight, or get a new job, or anything like that.
We’re just telling you what you want to hear about, and what you’re going to get,” she writes.”
We want people to feel empowered and have a great time doing what they love, and feel like they’re helping people.”
Stovall adds that the more people who tune in, the more they’re likely to listen to Motivated By You.
That might be why Motived By You has been so popular among listeners.
Stovalls blog also mentions that the show is also popular among fitness trainers and health care professionals.
